FUZL is a new British start-up focused on the message of responsible and sustainable furniture in all its phases, from conception to construction.
Each wooden furniture product, supplied in flat packaging, consists of 100% materials available in the UK, using a made-to-order model to contain production and transport costs.
Another feature of the brand is to provide an assembly of the furniture without the need for tools, making both screws and glues or synthetic paints superfluous.
The replacement of screws and bolts takes place through the use of special clips called QIK-Clips™ which ensure that all parts of the cabinet are held together. These clips are self-shrinking and do not require adjustments that are easy to apply and remove. As a corollary, paper instructions in favor of an “assembly guide” available online are also avoided.
Also for colors, FOZL has relied on Rubio Monocoat’s experience to obtain hand-made VOC-free finishes with certified oils for food and natural pigments. The colors have been designed to make the best on wooden surfaces, even when they are worn out by time. The company provides an after-care kit for retouching ruined furniture, while remembering that wood “looks best when worn”. The current palette includes Black, Birch, Lobster, Moss, Tomato and Pollen.
Also in the field of sustainability, FUZL has also developed 100% recyclable protective packaging that uses only biodegradable paper tape and folding and fixing methods with origami techniques. In this strictly flat ecological packaging, both pluriball sheets and plastic are totally missing, with furniture components simply wrapped in cardboard.
A reinforcement of the company message is also obtained from a simple product like coasters: made with the waste of the largest processes, in birch and cork, they are colored in oil and supplied in an ingenious packaging.
